Qualified and Experienced Therapist

I began training as a therapist in 2020, building on years of experience in social care and emotional support. I trained in the humanistic, person-centred approach, which focuses on empathy, authenticity, and understanding each person in their own terms.

I work in a relational way and draw on elements of other major therapeutic approaches, including somatic, gestalt, existential and narrative therapy.

Since then, I’ve worked with over 200 clients offering both short-term and long-term therapy, from a few weeks to several years.

“When someone really hears you without passing judgment on you, without trying to take responsibility for you, without trying to mould you, it feels damn good”

– Carl Rogers

Helping Clients Since 2020

My Background Before Therapy

My therapeutic approach is informed by a career dedicated to mental health and social care. I’ve spent two decades in frontline roles, most notably seven years within a residential therapeutic community. This experience provided me with a background in:

  • Individual Care: Providing intensive one-to-one emotional support for those in distress.
  • Group Processes: Exploring intricate group dynamics and participating in psychoanalytic group work.
  • Professional Oversight: Engaging deeply with clinical supervision.

Complementing my clinical background is a strong academic interest in the socio-cultural forces that impact the human experience. I hold an MA in Cultural and Critical Theory (Brighton University) and a PhD (University of Essex), the latter of which examined the institutional regulation of the psychotherapy profession in the UK.
